2008 Dodge Challenger: An Exciting Day At The Dodge Dealership

:[ July 21st, 2008

2008 Dodge Challenger
Last week end a couple of friends and I went to the Dodge dealership to see the new Challenger, and it was so much more then we expected, this car could not have been built better, it is absolutely perfect in every way, it could not be any better.

We didn’t even get to drive the car, as it was already sold, it had been ordered early by another fan of the Dodge challenger, so needless to say we’re still waiting for one to come in that isn’t already sold, I can’t even begin to explain how happy I was to see this car on the showroom floor.

It just restores my faith in the automotive industry to see that they will still occasionally listen to their customers, and I’ll tell you, Dodge could not have done a better job of listening, to it’s customers, and then implementing what they heard from them.

The particular car we seen was a hemi orange SRT 8 model, you know the 6.1 liter hemi, the only draw back was that this particular car had an automatic transmission in it, and I prefer the six speed standard, other then that it was one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen.

It’s almost a complete trow back to the good old days, when the 1970 Dodge Challenger roamed the streets, except with a lot of upgrades, in the areas that count, obviously one of the most important is the brake, to put the halt on the 425 HP 6.1 liter hemi.

The brakes are now four wheel disc brakes, obviously much better the the old drum brakes all the way around the car, not to mention the six speed standard shift transmission to help put the power to the pavement, Dodge has speared no expense on this car, and they have done an excellent job building it.

An old muscle car freak like me could not be more impressed with this work of American art, I say kudos to Dodge, keep up the good work, no wonder Dodges is one of the best selling cars in this country, with this kind of forward thinking, and real American ingenuity it just can’t get better.

I’m just sweating bullets waiting for the first one to roll in that isn’t already sold, from the Challenger’s plush interior, to it’s true muscle car exterior, it’s a true work of art, and a car that any real muscle car freak will fall in love with, my friends and I are absolute muscle car freaks.

We knelt down by this work of art, and took a boat load of pictures, as if we’d never see another one again, although we know that we will, that should tell you a bit about us, and the people that we hang out with, there are no bigger muscle car freaks on the planet then us.

5 Excellent Tips For Customizing Classic Cars

5 Excellent Tips For Customizing Classic Cars
By Peter Grizzly

Not all classic car owners want to restore their classic into its plain original beauty. Some would want to add a little spice to their cool ride, like blazetrails as an addition to their paintjob. Some would prefer a safer ride, with fuel-efficient engines, seatbelts, and airbags.

Customization might bring your classic car’s value down, but if you will have a far more comfortable ride, then it would still be worth it. If you want to do customization on your own, here are 5 excellent tips you should follow.

1. Create a master plan for customization. In restoring a classic, you have an easy guide: the original look and specs of the car. In customizing, you need to have your own guide. Try to draw the final look of your car. If you want flames or skulls on the side, try to have a good visual rendition first, to know if you really want it or not. You won’t want to have a customized paintjob that will end up horrible.

Also, make a list of the things that you will replace. If you want a new engine, look up if other parts need to be replaced too, like the radiator, fuel injections, and others.

2. Don’t overdo the details. Flames and skulls are nice, but a whole lot of them on the car are not. It will simply make your car look like a cheap vehicle owned by a punk. Also, aside from drawing, try to match up the colors. Shocking green could give a nice retro feel, but matching it with purple is a disaster.

3. Make sure that your car remains in balance. If you want to add a supercharger, make sure that the engine can handle it. The stock engine of a first generation Mustang could probably blow up if you supercharge it. Thus, you also need to replace the engine.

And if you are planning to install a monster engine, make sure to upgrade your suspensions too. This is simply to avoid disaster. And just to make sure that your car is in perfect balance, have a mechanic inspect it afterwards.

4. Adding hydraulics is nice, but make sure that it does not ruin the car. Too much bumping and humping would wear down a sweet classic car, and you would not want that. Not only will it depreciate in value, you also need to apply repairs again.

If you are planning some drastic changes, like turning a car into a convertible, consider it thoroughly. These changes are non-reversible, and if you are planning to sell your car later, you might have a difficult time finding buyers.

5. Make sure you add the necessary stuff. If you will add a monster of an engine and a supercharger do not forget to include better seatbelts and airbags. Remember, the point of customizing a classic car is not really to make it look cool, but to make it much safer and comfortable.

The great part about customizing a classic car is that while you do put in much effort, you don’t need to treasure hunt that much for original parts. That means working on your car would be pretty convenient. Add to that the chance to make your car as you really want it. It might bring down the value of your classic car, but sometimes, fulfilling your desire is better than having money.

The 2009 Camaro - On The Eve Of Greatness

:[ May 12th, 2008

1969 Yenko Camaro

I figured that since the 2009 camaro is so close to hitting the showroom floor, it’s time for me to talk about it, I am a huge fan of the camaro, well let me put it this way, the 1969 camaro, but all in all over the years I guess the new design isn’t all bad, it take some inspiration from my favorite year of camaro.

I think it’s a great idea for Chevrolet to bring the camaro back, but please guys let’s not disgrace a legend, the camaro is one of the greatest muscle cars ever built, and if you don’t believe me, just look back in history, the ZL1 camaro was one of the most powerful muscle cars ever built, it would scare the hell out of the devil.

The camaro has built a legacy for it’s self over the years, and we should expect it to hold up that legacy until the end of time, the new camaro is a respectable car, but it will never do what the camaro of yesteryear done for the Chevrolet motor company.

If you have ever driven, or even ridden in one of the first generation cameo’s, you’d never consider the new one to be any competition for the old ones, if you look at the new challenger, witch brings the 1970 challenger to the new world, and the new mustang witch brings the old mustang in to the new world, you’d understand what I’m saying.

I know, I hear all the people talking down the retro idea for the muscle cars, but these are people who are to young to have had the pleasure of driving a real beast, a true American muscle car, and the whole retro idea is to energize the older muscle car fanatic, the one who loves muscle cars for their essence, the one who’d give almost anything to have the one he sold back again.

A man who can never forget what the muscle cars meant to him, I think this is where Chevrolet went south with the new camaro, the mustang, and the challenger capture the essence of the muscle cars of the 1960’s, and that is the whole idea behind the retro muscle car, I think that Ford, and Mopar have done a much better job of the retro theme.

I think that the new camaro will take off and do well because of it’s name, and over time people will get used to it, but it will never be the camaro of the 1960’s, or do for Chevrolet what the first generation camaro has done, I truly hope that I’m wrong, but sad to say I don’t think so.
