2009 ZR1 Corvette – Oh Yeah, It’s The Real Thing

:[ December 12th, 2008

After all of the studying that I have done on the ZR1 Corvette, I have learned a few things, the car is hand built, it has a carbon fiber front clip, and the best cam last night, as I seen a test drive of the 2009 Zr1 Corvette on the autobahn last night.

All I can say is, my god what an awesome car, it can hang with the best of them, pulling 1.1 G on the skidpad when being tested, dynoed 571 RWH the Zr1 Corvette is one of the best performance cars on the road today, with a 217 mph top speed in can contend with the best of Europe.

If you don’t like Corvette for whatever reason, maybe it’s time you learned to, possibly your a Viper guy, and their is nothing wrong with that, but I’m here to tell you, they do not hammer the Zr1 Corvette in any way, Chevrolet has done a fantastic job building hand crafted car.

From the supercharged 6.2 Liter engine, and carbon ceramic brakes, 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, 60-0 97 feet, and an 11.2 second ¼ mile @ 130 MPH, if you don’t like these numbers, or you don’t believe them, they can be backed up by visiting motor trend’s web site.

Possibly your an import car freak, who think American cars aren’t capable of this kind of performance, in that case you’d be wrong, I’ve seen video of this car destroying the best of them, and not just one video, a lot of them, it kills the Nissan GTR, and not by just a little bit, it does it in every test.

Once again I say buy American, it’s the right choice, the Zr1 Corvette out runs, out handles, and out stops all the top imports, it’s the king of the road, and if you don’t like it oh well, it will hammer you down one day, and you’ll be proud to say I was beat by an American car.

Thanksgiving – I Give Thanks To The Big Three

:[ November 27th, 2008

I give thanks to the big three, for everything they’ve done for me, they built the muscle car, gave it style, gave it power, I love the big three, it used to be just GM for me, but with current events I can’t deny the things they’ve all done for me.

Chevrolet gave me the camaro, the Z/28 with it 302 and available cross-ram and two four barrels, they gave me the Yenko camaro with it’s brutal fire breathing 427 cubic inch big block, it’s thanksgiving and I give thanks to the big three, nobody does more for me.

Dodge gave me the hemi charger, nothing quite like a hemi, it’s brutal horsepower and torque could make a grown man cry, the 426 cubic inch beast, that was modestly rated at 430 horsepower, could easily prove that number wrong, and would make you competitor’s face very long.

Buick gave me the GSX, in 1970 Buick decided that it needed to really compete in the muscle car wars that the big three were having, enter the GSX, an 11 second factory ¼ mile, the GSX could impress the most staunch Buick disbeliever, and usually did.

I give thanks to the big three, for everything they’ve done for me, they built the muscle car, gave it style, gave it power, I love the big three, it used to be just GM for me, but with current events I can’t deny the things they’ve all done for me.

Ford gave me the mustang, with all of it’s accolades, I can’t deny it’s street prowess, and it’s awesome drag presence, I can’t deny the sales numbers, the most sold American muscle car of all times, the power, and the dignity, add Carol Shelby, and look what For did for me.

On this day of giving thanks maybe you should look inside, and possibly you could really see the big three for everything that that they do for you, you say that they have made mistakes, you say their quality suffers, and you buy in to the hype of the imports, take another look at the big three.

Buy American and save our country, they have had one hundred years to build in our country, and they provide you with the things that you need, take another look at the big three, I have seen everything that they’ve done for me, and I love the big three.

I grew up with the big three, and my family drove nothing but GM and Ford, I love the big three, and I know what they did for me, I could never stand on the import soap box with dignity, I love the big three, for all they do for our country.

1969 SS Camaro – The Everlasting Argument

:[ October 3rd, 2008

The argument between camaro enthusiasts about which of the camaro’s is the top dog between the 1969 Z/28 camaro, and the 1969 SS camaro seems to be a never ending one, but the real truth is that these cars were built for different purposes, so they are both the top camaro in their particular forte.

The Z/28 camaro was built to run the SCCA racing circuit, and it was a top contender, winning a lot of the races, the SCCA had a engine size limit of no more the 305 cubic inches, hence the birth of the 302 Chevrolet small block in 1967, this engine started out as a two bolt main in 1967, and by late 1969 was converted to a four bolt main.

The 302 had it’s share of accolades as a winning engine, and still has it’s reputation to this day, a 1969 Z/28 with a 302 still in it will command a lot higher sales price then a unit with a 350 transplant, this car was never built as a ¼ mile beast, it was a high reeving engine designed to keep the front end of the car light, thereby giving it better handling characteristics.

It would however do fairly good on the ¼ mile track also, pulling high 14’s, and low 145s with the right driver, making the Z/28 the top dog in it’s forte, it also had a lot of very coll options offered from the factory, like the crossram setup that sported two four barrel carbs sitting across from each other.

This was a rare option, and I have seen the crossram and carb setups sell for as much as $14,000 these days, no body can argue that the 1969 Z/28 was one of the top performing cars on the SCCA circuit in 1969, its a true to life fact.

The 1969 SS camaro was designed to be a ¼ mile beast, which it was, the 1969 SS camaro had a lot of cool options also, but the main one was a Chevy 396 CID big block engine, which obviously made a huge difference in it’s ¼ mile times, by adding more torque and horsepower.

The SS 396 came in three different configurations, you had the 325,and 350 HP versions, and the L78 375 HP which at the time would cost a massive $316.00 to add to your car, and for only $711.00 you could add the L89 option which would get aluminum heads added to your camaro, and remove about 100 pounds.

The SS would weigh in at about 3790 pounds, and came with a Holly four barrel carb, and 11:1 compression pistons, and this combination would net you 375 HP @ 5600 rpm, and 415 FTLB of torque @ 4600 rpm, a great combination for the drag strip, the car would run a 14.7 second ¼ mile @ 98.7 mph, with a 0-60 of 6.8

As you can see these two cars were designed for completely different uses, and they were both the top dog for their designed uses, so the everlasting argument really has no basis because the Z/28 would hammer the SS on an SCCA race track, and the SS would hammer the Z/28 in the ¼ mile, so there you go.
